Defect
On vehicles equipped with a mechanical automated transmission, internal components of the gear shift unit (GSU) are improperly designed, causing the GSU to operate roughly or cease operation entirely. In the worst case, this results in a shift malfunction. Additionally, the control program in the control unit (ECU) is improperly designed: if an automatic shift operation stops mid-sequence, the ECU misidentifies the shift position. In the worst case, the vehicle may accelerate momentarily, or the actual shift position may differ from the displayed position, causing the vehicle to move rearward when a forward gear is selected.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the ECU with a unit containing the corrected control program, and replace the affected GSU components with corrected parts. Additionally, inspect the shift stroke sensor output; if abnormal, replace the sensor shaft with a new part. If normal, apply grease to the connection between the sensor groove and sensor shaft.

状況
械式自動変速装置付き車両において、ギアシフトユニット(GSU)の構成部品の構造が不適切なため、GSUの動きが滑らかでなくなったり動かなくなることがあり、最悪の場合、変速不良となるおそれがある。また、コントロールユニット(ECU)の制御プログラムが不適切なため、自動変速動作が途中で止まった場合にシフト位置を誤認して、最悪の場合、一時的に車両が加速したり、シフト位置が表示と異なり前進発進時に車両が後方に動くおそれがある。
改善措置
車両、制御プログラムを対策したECUに交換し、GSUの構成部品を対策品と交換する。また、シフトストロークセンサ出力を点検し、異常があるものはセンサ軸を新品と交換、正常のものはセンサ溝とセンサ軸の連結部にグリースを塗布する。
