Defect
The O2 sensor in the emissions control system is improperly attached to the exhaust pipe. Continued operation can cause cracks to develop at the weld of the mounting point, allowing the O2 sensor to detach and exhaust gases to leak. This results in the release of large quantities of harmful gases and may prevent the engine from restarting.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the affected exhaust pipe with a corrected part.
