Defect
On plug-in hybrid vehicles, the capacity of the hybrid system protection fuse (EV fuse) in the drive battery system is inadequate. Repeated high-load driving may cause the fuse to fail from fatigue-induced disconnection. As a result, the warning lamp illuminates and, in the worst case, the hybrid system shuts down, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the EV fuse with a corrected part.
