Defect
On heavy-duty tractors equipped with a 16-speed transmission, excessive play exists at the spline engagement between the transmission output shaft and the flange coupling. During acceleration and deceleration, this play imposes excessive stress on the threads of the flange coupling mounting bolts. Continued operation in this condition may cause the bolts to fracture and, in the worst case, the propeller shaft may detach from the vehicle.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the flange coupling and retaining plate with corrected parts and replace the mounting bolts with new ones. Because supply of the corrected flange coupling requires lead time, an interim measure is to replace the retaining plate with a corrected part and replace the mounting bolts with new ones; the flange coupling will be replaced with a corrected part at a later date.

状況
16段式変速機を搭載した大型トラクタにおいて、変速機のアウトプットシャフトとフランジカップリングのスプラインの嵌合部にガタがあるため、加減速時にフランジカップリング締結ボルトのねじ部に過大な力がかかる。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該ボルトが折損し、最悪の場合、プロペラシャフトが脱落するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、フランジカップリングとリテーニングプレートを対策品と交換するとともに当該ボルトを新品に交換する。尚、フランジカップリングの供給に時間を要するため、暫定措置としてリテーニングプレートを対策品に交換するとともに当該ボルトを新品に交換し、後日フランジカップリングを対策品と交換する。
